We had a great time this weekend at Portland’s Whiskey Town USA Event. So many great distilleries represented, good music, amazing food and a boat load of excited whiskey lovers. Thanks so everyone who stopped by and said hello. It was a pleasure to meet you all and share a drink with you!
Bender’s Rye Small Batch #2 will be hitting shelves later this month and we couldn’t be happier. This time around we were able to get ahold of some delicious 9 year rye to blend with. The rye and the corn come from the same trusted distillery we worked with for batch #1 but the extra 2 years of aging adds a smoothness we couldn’t get as close to with the first batch. Because of the additional aging we modified our mashbill for this batch to be 92% rye and 8% corn. You’ll notice a slight difference, dare we say improvement, in the taste.
After much debate and a lot of work, this was the final blend before bottling.
A sea of bottles ready to be filled.
Last Friday, we were invited to join fellow San Francisco natives, Method, for a happy hour at their impressive Commercial street location downtown. We’re fans of the company’s environmentally friendly ethos and they’re big whiskey enthusiasts (they have well stocked tiki bar in a not-so-dark corner of their office) so we jumped at the chance to visit. We had a great time checking out their space and meeting everyone and were able to practice our bartending skills, serving up a couple different classic cocktails for everyone. Thanks again for having us!
We had a blast serving up Bender’s this past weekend at the Seven Stills and The Bold Italic‘s first ever I’m On A Boat event benefitting the San Francisco ASPCA. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day for a philanthropic booze cruise and it was great meeting other Bay Area vendors who care about craft food and beverage as much as we do! We hope everyone had a great time and thanks again to Seven Stills, The Bold Italic and those who came out to support the cause!

A very happy new year to everyone who has showed up to support us during our first year in business. We’ve had the good fortune to get our rye into some great places in the Bay Area and are looking to expand our distribution in the coming year.
